History
Don Ferrante, or Ferdinando Loffredo, was a Neapolitan nobleman who enjoyed many titles; First Marquis of Trevico, Lord of San Sossio and Zingoli, Governor General of Bari and Otranto, Lord of Lecce and Dean of the Sacro Regio Consiglio.When Don Ferrante became the Viceroy of Bari and Otranto new defensive city walls had just been built in Monopoli as well as parts of the castle, today known as Charles V Castle.
A little fortress was also built close on the southern side of the walls: this is the building where Don Ferrante lies today with the Luxury Guest House and the Luxury Town House..
